Whether it’s your first year in college, or your last year before earning your master’s degree, you definitely need a bag to carry around all of those heavy textbooks. The question is, though, what bag is the right one for you? With so many different styles and materials, this can be a daunting task, especially for incoming freshman who don’t have any idea what they’re doing.
I just finished my first year of college and am gearing up for sophomore year. Here are a few of the many different styles of bags that might be perfect for you to bring to class.
-
Traditional Backpack
This is perfect for the student who loves to study. If you’re the type of person who carries around all your books all the time, you need a bag that can take the weight off your shoulders (literally). Backpacks sound boring, but there are so many colors and patterns to choose from. There are even websites where you can customize your own!
-
Messenger Bag
If you have a busy schedule and are running from one end of campus to the other, a messenger bag is definitely going to be your best friend. There’s not as much room on the inside, but if you only take the textbooks you need for the day and your laptop and planner, you might have some room for water and a snack for in-between classes.
-
Oversized Purse
I know what you’re thinking, “Why would I want to use an oversized purse to carry around my school books?” Last year, I had a bag like this and it worked really well for me. It was big enough for my books, computer, notebooks, water bottle, and practice clothes for when I had to go straight from class to practice. It’s more practical than it sounds, plus, it’s super-stylish.
So now that you know about some of the different styles of bags you can use for school, what materials are the best? Most people don’t really give this a lot of thought and just buy whatever bag looks the best. The problem with this is that some bags are poorly and cheaply made, and they end up ripping halfway through the school year.
Leather is a more expensive option, but it’s also more durable than other materials. It’s worth the cost when you consider that you’ll be able to use the bag for years instead of months. Click here to read an article with more on this topic.
Here are some websites where you can customize your own bag! The prices vary, but you can keep it affordable without sacrificing your style.
